Tibetan wool is found 14,000 feet above sea level in the Himalayas and natural highlands. Farmed by Nepalese and Tibetan nomadic communities, the wool is from Changpel sheep, which grow long, tensile strong fibers with lots of lanolin. Lanolin is a waxy substance that is naturally produced by sheep to protect them from the subzero temperatures of their natural environment. It covers the fibers from root to tip and is moisturizing to both the wool and skin of the animal. Lanolin, alongside covetable fibre properties, is what gives Himalayan sheep' wool its reputation for being one of the softest, most durable and luxurious wool on the planet.
